A mini-symposium on Structural Health Monitoring of Transport Infrastructure

The upcoming 7th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, to be held in Crete Island, Greece during 24-26 June 2019, is now open to abstract submissions with the deadline of 30 October 2018. Dr. Abdollah Malekjafarian from CCIR and Dr. Amir Alavi from University of Missouri are organizing a mini-symposium in this conference on “Structural Health Monitoring of Transport Infrastructure”.

About COMPDYN:

COMPDYN 2019 is the seventh edition of the International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering and one of the Thematic Conferences of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) and a Special Interest Conference of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM). It has also been promoted by the European Committee on Computational Solids and Structural Mechanics (ECCSM) of ECCOMAS. COMPDYN 2019 will be held in conjunction with the 3rd International Conference on Uncertainty Quantification in Computational Sciences and Engineering (UNCECOMP 2019), also an ECCOMAS Thematic Conference.

Objective of the min-symposium:

Today’s transport networks play a key role in supporting economic growth. A smart transportation system that is capable of monitoring the condition of its critical infrastructure can plan preventive maintenance activities. Deterioration and damage will inevitably occur in transport infrastructure such as roads and railway systems. The aim of this symposium is to bring together academic scientists and industry researchers to present their recent advancements in the field of structural health monitoring of transport infrastructure. It covers a broad research area from simple models to applications, numerical modelling, laboratory-scale experimental case studies and field tests.

The session will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Bridge damage detection and health monitoring (highway and railway bridges)
  • Identification of bridge modal properties
  • Road pavement health monitoring methods
  • Railway track health monitoring methods
  • Dynamic interaction of trucks with bridges and roads
  • Bridge traffic loading

Submitting abstract:

In order to submit your abstract, first you need to register on the Conference website. From your Account Overview Menu click My Abstracts/My Papers, click Submit an Abstract, choose Submit to Minisymposium and enter the MS code: MS-04-CD and proceed with the Abstract Submission following the instruction.
