Shane Donohue

Director of the Centre for Critical Infrastructure Research (CCIR) I graduated from UCD with a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering (2006). Following this, I was awarded the Pierse Newman Fellowship for Civil Engineering and worked for a number of years as a research fellow in UCD, where my primary research focus centred on field and laboratory characterisation of soils for engineering purposes. In 2008, I was awarded an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Ireland) STRIVE research fellowship, and during this time I was also appointed President of the Geophysical Association of Ireland (GAI). I was appointed to the position of Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the University of Bath in 2011 and subsequently to the position Senior Lecturer in Queens University Belfast. I joined UCD as an Associate Professor in Geotechnical Engineering in 2018.
