About Associate Professor Arturo Gonzalez

Arturo González graduated as "Ingeniero Tecnico Superior de Caminos, Canales y Puertos" (6-yr Civil Engineering degree) at University of Cantabria (Spain, 1995). Then, he obtained MSc and PhD's degrees from the School of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland, 1996 and 2000), specialising in bridge weigh-in-motion and vehicle-bridge interaction models. In 2001 he continued research as Newman post-doctoral fellow in University College Dublin (UCD, Ireland). In 2003, he started his career as a college lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering at UCD, where he is currently Associate Professor. He imparts syllabus for modules on analysis of structures, elasticity, civil engineering design and bridge engineering. In 2015, he completed an NQF level 9 Postgraduate Diploma in University Teaching and Learning (UCD School of Teaching & Learning). In 2017, he received a Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Engineering and Architecture, and a Certificate recognising leadership at Ireland's Champions of EU Research 2017 from the National Support Network for Horizon 2020. From 2018, he is Programme Director for Structural Engineering with Architecture BSc and ME degrees, and Civil Engineering MEngSc structures degree.
