Transport Policy and Infrastructure

It is important to understand how transport policy, planning  policy and infrastructure can be developed in order to promote sustainable travel. The team of researchers in the CCIR is multidisciplinary (economists, civil engineers, geographers and planners). The studies of the researchers in this group have focussed on a number of significant areas: the relationship between planning and transport; transport disadvantage and transport equity; gender issues in transport; infrastructure design; car dependency; active travel and transport economics. These are issues of huge both nationally and internationally and must be understood if a sustainable transport future is to be achieved. The staff involved in this area of research are:
